Some social media also gives the facility to talk to strangers from any part of the world on video chat. These types of social media should also be avoided by Muslims. As they promote free mixing and can lead you to chat with any non-mehram.
Watching any kind of news websites, which do not promote any kind of haram is ok. Spending time on social media like facebook should also be avoided, as they may take your precious time on scrolling useless content. We should use this time efficiently in the zikr of Allah SWT, rather than wasting our time on social media.
Can You Watch YouTube in Ramadan?
YouTube is the only social media which has a low risk of watching haram. In other words, it is quite safe in comparison to other social media platforms, but still it is not 100% free from haram or prohibited things in Islam.
One can use YouTube to utilize their crucial time, in order to get close to Allah SWT by watching Islamic Lectures or Dawah Videos. By doing this we can utilize our time properly without getting bored, during the time of fasting in ramadan.
Youtube has also unlimited collection of Quran Recitation videos by some of the greatest Imams of the Masjid Al Haram and Masjid Al Nabawi. It is also has the content of some great scholars of Islam from all around the world. By watching these kind of contents during your fasting hours will elevate the level of your imaan, Inshallah.

Can You Watch TV in Ramadan?
If you watch islamic channels on tv, like live broadcasting of Masjid Al Haram or any kind of islamic channels from where you are gaining knowledge of deen, then it is well and good.
On the other hand, if you watch tv for movies or your favourite dramas which haram according to Islam, then it is not recommended for you to watch it.
It totally depends, what kind of content or channel you’re watching on your television. Today most of the tv channels are promoting haram content instead of some quality or moral value content.
It is best to avoid watching television if it has no islamic channels or islamic content. As watching tv is one of the biggest time wasting medium of all time.
Can You Listen to Music in Ramadan?

Whether it is the month of ramadan or not. Whether you are fasting or not. As a Muslim, you cannot listen to music anytime. Listening to music is Haram in Islam as it diverts an individual from the path and remembrance of Allah SWT.
Anything which leads a Muslim away from the remembrance of his Lord Allah SWT, then it becomes haram for him. Same goes for the music. While listening to music, we are overjoyed by the lyrics and highly influenced by the music and we get lost into it.

Netflix is an another social media platform which are loaded with movies, k-dramas and many more things, which are completely haram for a Muslim to watch.
Specially in the month of ramadan while fasting, this platform can be a major diverter of your mind and soul, as it has unlimited access to all the un-islamic content.
Watching these kinds of haram movies and k-dramas on any platforms is haram for any Muslim. In my knowledge, this platform does not have any Muslim-friendly content or halal content such as Quran Recitations or Islamic Lectures.
During the time of fasting in ramadan we should focus more on the deen of Allah SWT, rather than chilling on Netflix, which is not going to benefit us in any means.
How To Spend Your Time During Ramadan?
Many Muslims get bored and sleep all day during fasting in ramadan because they don’t know the important things in which they can spend their crucial time.
I have a list of things and activities, which any Muslim can do to utilize their important time of fasting during ramadan, without getting boared:
- Read Quran
- Read translation of Quran for better understanding.
- Watch Islamic Lectures or Dawah Content
- Don’t miss Fard Salah (obligatory prayers)
- Learn to give Azaan
- Learn any new skill

Muslims cannot watch movies during or even after ramadan because it is haram to watch movies in Islam. Movies have basically all the elements which does not matches the rules and regulations of Islamic values. Movies promote many sins like music and free mixing.
