Evidence From Hadith

Chapter: What Has Been Related About Matters That Are Not Clear

An-Numan bin Bashir narrated that the Messenger of Allah (S) said: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between that are matters that are doubtful (not clear); many of the people do not know whether it is lawful or unlawful. So whoever leaves it to protect his religion and his honor, then he will be safe, and whoever falls into something from them, then he soon will have fallen into the unlawful. Just like if someone grazes (his animals) around a sanctuary, he would soon wind up in it. Indeed for every king is a sanctuary (pasture), and indeed Allah’s sanctuary is what He made unlawful.”

Why Pork Is Haram For Muslims

Pork is totally prohibited for muslims because Allah SWT has forbidden it. As a muslim, we submit our will to Allah (GOD) and obey what he has made lawful and unlawful for us. These laws or commandments are clearly written in the glorious book Quran. Quran was revealed by Allah SWT to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through Angel Jibreel. Quran was not only sent specifically for muslims but, for all the mankind.

Evidence From Quran

There are clear four verses in the Quran, where Allah SWT has prohibited consumption of pork.

Verse No. 1

He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. [Surah Al Baqarah, Chapter 2, Verse 173] – Saheeh International.

Verse No. 2

“Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah , and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin – then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” [Surah Al Ma’idah, Chapter 5,Verse 3] – Saheeh International.

Verse No. 3

Say, “I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it be a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine – for indeed, it is impure – or it be [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], then indeed, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.” [Surah Al An’aam, Chapter 6, Verse 145] – Saheeh International

Verse No. 4

He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] – then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
